Spring Trek Sydney is a fundraising event for Room to Read, a global organisation seeking to transform the lives of millions of children in Asia and Africa through a focus on literacy and gender equality in education. In addition to the registration fee, each team must meet the minimum fundraising amount of $900 which will go directly to this great cause.

To fundraise:

1) each individual will raise funds through their own individual campaign page and

2) the team needs to raise a total of $900, and ideally the organisation or business you work for will match this total.

On registering each team member receives an email with a link to their own individual EveryDayHero supporter page. Use your supporter page to spread the word; inspire support; and raise money.

Dollar Matching/Employee Giving

Many companies have programs where they match dollar for dollar money raised by employees for non-profit organisations. It is a way for employers to give back to their employees and the community. For example, if you raise $900, your employer will also give $900. Room to Read (Australia) is a registered non-profit organisation in Australia and every donation above $2 is tax deductible.

If your company does not have a matching program, many organisations are prepared to make a donation to a non-profit organisation to which their employees have committed.

Ask your Human Resources department or your Corporate Social Responsibility unit, if your company has a fund matching program. If no fund matching program exists, ask your company if it would be prepared to support your effort by making a donation to help you. Remember, Room to Read has benefited 11.5 million children across 18,000 communities in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Vietnam and Zambia, and aims to reach 15 million children by 2020.

Room to Read (Australia) can provide all the paper work on our non-profit status if your company needs this. We will also be sure to thank the company for their support after the event, and they will also get a tax-deductible receipt. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further information.
